Grand Parc, Puy-du-Fou. Magical history tour of France

For anyone thinking of visiting this interesting attractive and exciting country there is a most fascinating and world famous series of adventures waiting in beautiful and historic central France. This is Grand Parc in Puy du Fou.

 

Puy du Fou is a famous amusement park giving a renowned sound and light night show named Cinescenie. This show is given on Friday and Saturday evenings from June to the middle of September. The fabulous show features no fewer than 1,100 actors who bring the Vendee's history to life, from the Middle Ages to the Second World War, in a spectacular show!

 

Over the years, different shows and mock towns and villages have been created including an 18th cent rural village, a medieval town and a village dating from the year 1000 whose fortress is ransacked by Vikings, a besieged keep a Gallo-Roman collesseum and much more.   See Vikings page.

The Secret of the Lance.  In the 15th Century, Marguerite, a young and intrepid shepherdess, meets the knight Fulgent du Puy-du-Fou, then Jeanne la Lorraine arrives, she has come to unite all the knights in fighting the English.

Before Jeanne leaves she offers the shepherdess a lance which lay in the chateau, this lance has supernatural capabilities and will help them overcome the English.

The Puy du Fou amusement extends over 45 hectares and really enchant children and adults with its medieval, 18th-century and 1900s villages and entertaining shows like The Ball of the Phantom Birds and Richelieu's Musketeer. A wonderful journey into the past!

Mousquetaires de Richelieu a show based loosely on the 3 Musketeers and held inside an enormous auditorium with the world’s largest curtain (70m), this show, which involves horses dancing on a lake, ladies dancing through the fountains and of course our 3 Musketeers plus much more. Even though this is held in a gigantic theatre, seats are limited so get there 15 minutes before the start time.

Be thrilled by a swashbuckling adventure, packed with both flamenco ballet and horse-riding feats. Get caught up in this medieval, chivalric extravanganza interweaving magic and the supernatural.

Le Bal des Oiseaux Fantomes. This must be the finest display of Falconry in the world with up to 150 birds of prey in the air for the finale. Set in the amphitheatre of Vieux Château the show introduces the many birds of prey to the audience, the falconers are positioned all around the stage and as the birds fly from falconer to falconer they raise the hair on your head and give you a close up view of these impressive creatures.

You can wander the streets of the medieval village and mingle with the pigs, craftsmen, stone restorers and jugglers while watching someone in an flying machine trying to teach the geese to fly. This theme park is not based on visual effects but rather real flesh and stone.

There are also dozens of smaller activities happening everywhere you turn all over the park, and wherever you go there is something different going on.

There are 5 major Spectaculars that take place throughout the day, most are repeated but this depends on the time of year that you visit.
